Beautiful Book Sculptures

It's hot today in Southern California. 89 degrees! Yikes! I thought we needed to see some refreshing ideas to help us cool us down. Haha. I know, I should be a comedian huh?  Well when you see these beautiful book sculptures created by Nicholas Jones it will definitely take your mind off of the heat.

I love that he looks like a mad book artist and scientist. You can tell he's really passionate about his books. Take a look at his studio.

I love seeing this drum in the middle of his studio. A prefect thing to bang when your mind is blocked.

Sew Fun!

Last Wednesday, Lucy and I went to a sewing 101 class taught by one of my favorite clothing designers, Random Nicole. When I found out that she was having a workshop in The Road Less Traveled in Santa Ana (a  cool environmentally & human conscious store that we both have always wanted to go check out), I just had to get Lucy a gift card for the class for her belated birthday present. It turned out to be quite the fun alternative to spending a Wednesday night. We met a group of really fun gals who were all eager to learn how to sew and make their pillows. Nicole was also very patient with us, no matter what level we're at with our sewing skills. And she was so encouraging even when our zig-zag stitch was a little wacky. Haha! Her mom was also so very helpful and encouraging. We had tons of fun. Thank you for the class, Nicole! Definitely a much needed break in the middle of the week.

In Love

It's been quite the busy but productive weekend for my wedding preps. Patrick and I did our engagement photoshoot on Saturday, then on Sunday went to our last dance class and finished our routine (yay!), went to mass, then rushed to our next appointment to meet the other dynamic duo, Andy and Derek, who will be doing our video slideshow production.

But I wanted to share some of the pics that came out of the photoshoot. We went to St. Barbara Church where we first met at bible study and then to Gypsy Den in Santa Ana where we had our first unofficial date. It was a SUPER hot day but well worth it! Thanks to Thao and Duy of Thao Vu Photography for these awesome shots! You guys rock!

Secret Surprise #1

D*LSH has been a little quiet around here, but that's because we're in our little studio, brainstorming, creating, messing up, getting it just right, meeting with other creatives, swapping ideas, playing and working hard on some pretty cool secret surprises that soon will be revealed. We're excited, and anxious! We want to reveal it all at once, but it wouldn't be as fun we revealed everything right?! So we're going to do it slowly in the coming weeks. Buckle up and enjoy the ride.

Every project that we touch, may it be a wedding invitation, a logo, business cards, posters, a website or the decor for an event, it's all inspired and infused with stories. Stories of first love, triumphs, change, growth... of life.  So when we met Kim at Good Stock, she stole our heart. We felt a connection because we both have a deep love for stories. With her skilled hands, she has a gifted way of telling stories by making books. She is our very own superhero bookmaker. So when she showed us her new accordion books, we were so elated because we instantly knew these will be so perfect for our clients.

This is such a lovely wedding book. It's so great because we can customize it and match it with any of the signature elements that was part of your wedding - colors, ribbons, invitations, monograms, quotes.

It's so great to say that we have teamed up to create these for you. Calling all photographers, new parents, newlyweds or just you...gather your stories, love letters, and pictures and meet with us. Kim is right, if you have a book in mind, we can make it happen. With your stories, we'll embrace it with our passion for graphic design and with her love for bookmaking, and we'll turn it into a never-ending story.

Dress My Feet

I'm super excited about my engagement photoshoot this Saturday. I've been looking through multiple websites of the photographers I admire and going through their engagement section for ideas on what to wear. One thing that stood out was the unbelievably sexy and adorable shoes! So I started my search for the cute shoes for the 'shoot. And look what I found!

Oh, how I covet thee...

This reminds me of the gray color for my wedding and too cute to pass up.

This one might actually go really well with the red/white dress I'm thinking of wearing for the 'shoot, but could be an overkill.

I don't own much of blue anything, but this is just way too cool/cute not to put in here.

This one is very summery and reminds me of Lucy's love of butter yellow. Hehe.
