The most beautiful place in Santorini was Oia (the north tip of the island). Those beautiful white-walled and blue-domed architecture you see in photos of Greece is Oia! And also where they filmed Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants! (Honestly, my inspiration to go to Greece.) So that was where we headed the day we rented a Smart Car.
The only downside to this place was that it was SUPER WINDY!!! But amazingly, we found a cafe perfectly on the other side of the cliff where there was absolutely no wind at all. It was perfect.
After a day of sightseeing and shopping in Oia, we still had the afternoon, so we headed back to Fira for our donkey ride! I gotta say, the donkeys are my favorite, favorite part of Greece. I told myself I'm going to start a Save the Donkey organization one day. They were awesome animals.
At night, we met up with our new friends, Helen and Olga for drinks in a local bar in Fira. They were these Australian mom and daughter who owned a souvenir shop in Donkey Station. Both were super sweet and the mom showed us pics of her kids and shared some stories with us. It was fun hanging out with them.
